Synthetic Turf Installation

Synthetic turf installation is easy with Zero Turf. Most artificial turf products are installed with a granular infill for blade support and anchoring.  Zero Turf supplies 2 types of infill as well as our infill-free signature turf line.

What is our easy installation process?

Step 1. Material Removal
We will completely clear away all previous existing materials, including sod, soil, concrete, asphalt, debris, and vegetation in order to achieve a native sub-soil base.  This may require a 0-4 inch removal of surface substances, depending on the situation, and allows for us to start with a clean, clear foundation for which to begin your synthetic turf installation.  We will be responsible for completely removing all debris and remaining materials from your property so your home's appearance stays as clean as possible throughout the entire process.

Step 2. Base/Drainage
In order to create a solid base for your synthetic lawn, we use a mixture made up of 3/4-inch rock and decomposed granite to produce a foundation that is capable of draining approximately sixteen inches of water per hour.  This foundation also serves as a compactable and stable base to adhere our turf, ensuring your Zero Turf lawn will look as good in the years to come as it does immediately after installation.

Step 3. Weed Barrier
We lay a durable woven polypropylene barrier on top of the drainage base in order to prevent plant growth through your artificial turf.  This growth can come from tree and plant droppings as well as from weeds below the turf base.  Our polypropylene weed barrier is made to withstand absorption from any liquid and will easily drain, as opposed to a geo-textile fabric which will absorb liquid as possibly cause mold and decay.

Step 4. Turf Installation
Zero Turf's synthetic turf comes in 15-foot wide rolls and is custom-cut to fit each installation, similar to the way a carpet is installed.  Our turf is positioned to give a seamless appearance, using as few cuts of turf as possible.  The synthetic turf is then adhered to the ground using 6- and 10-inch galvanized yard spikes, ensuring your artificial turf looks and continues to look like real grass.

Step 5. Installation of Infill
We highly recommended the use of an infill product with every synthetic turf installation we perform in order to keep your turf looking full and natural through years of wear and tear. Depending on your choice of artificial turf, we will suggest one of three products: the traditional shock-absorbent crumb rubber infill, our sterile silicone durafill, or our shock absorbent flex sand (also called elastomer-coated quartz sand).
